Implementation of the Supreme Court’s Order against RAGGING in our college :

Ragging in Any Form is BANNED and prohibited in and around the college campus. “RAGGING” as per the terms of reference, means any act ,conduct or practice by which the dominant power or status of senior students is brought to bear on students freshly enrolled or on students who are in any way considered junior or inferior by other students and includes individual or collective acts or practices which :

  • Involve physical assault or threat to use of physical force;
  • Violate the status, dignity and honour of women students;
  • Violate the status ,dignity and honour of students belonging to SC and ST- categories
  • Expose students to ridicule and contempt and affect their self-esteem;
  • Entail verbal abuse and aggression , indecent gestures and obscene behavior

The members of Anti – Ragging Committee shall take immediate action on any information of the occurrence of ragging.

The committee, on establishment of the act of ragging by and individual or a group of individuals, shall be authorized to punish the perpetrators as per the provision of para-1 of Supreme Court’s order.

The admission/Registration form of the college has the format of printed undertaking to be filled up &signed by the candidate and his/her parent/guardian that mentions that candidate is aware of the institution’s approach towards ragging and the punishment to which the candidate shall be liable to punished if found guilty of ragging.

The college prospectus as well as a printed leaflet carries the details of the members of Anti – ragging committee together with the contact numbers of the members.

The college organizes fresher’s meet two days before the starting of the academic session wherein the Chairman, the Directors/Principals/Heads of different programmers, and teaching staff interact with fresher’s to build faith and develop confidence in them to fight against ragging.

The College campus carries anti-ragging posters on notice-boards and signboards at important points(such as canteen and the hostel) and teaching staff has the full authority to take immediate action and punish the guilty reportedly involved in the incident of raging erectly or indirectly.

The college is aware of the repercussions of ragging and the Hostel wardens/Administrative staff members are made aware of their duly towards anti-ragging campaign.

The hostel guards are instructed to bring to the notice of Wardens/Director/Chairman if seniors are found indulging in the act of ragging and the visiting hours of seniors are regulated in the hostel accommodation of the fresher’s as per the decisions taken by authorities.

The Hostel Warden/Director and members of Anti – ragging Committee are made aware of the Supreme Court‘s order that in the event of non-identification of individual committing or abetting ragging , collective punishment could be resorted to the potential group of the Raggers.

The provisional certificate / character certificate issued by the institution has an entry regarding the fact the whether the student had participated in ragging /was punished for ragging.

In the fresher’s meet before the commencement of the academic year, the teaching staff is advised to organize frequent interacting sessions involving the senior’s and freshers in a healthy atmosphere so that they develop a friendly relationship and behave like family members. The objective is to encourage the seniors and the juniors to exhibit their talents and shed their complexes.
